Pathways out of destitution

With the right support people can be supported out of destitution. For some people, this might be through accessing qualified immigration advice and gaining access to public funds; in other situations, it might be through employment and raising earnings so that they can meet daily living costs.

Local Authorities play an important role in assisting people, particularly families with children and adults with care needs who are eligible for social services support. Third sector organisations provide a crucial safety net and crisis supports to people experiencing destitution and often facilitate access to advocacy and casework support.

Work to develop pathways out of destitution for people with NRPF is ongoing and will take partnership work across government and with communities.
